$5 Dinner Mom Cookbook--Review and Giveaway (Sporadic Saturday)

Well, it is definitely time to add another giveaway.   And I think this one  will be my best  so far.

I first heard about the The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook: 200 Recipes for Quick, Delicious, and Nourishing Meals That Are Easy on the Budget and a Snap to Prepare from some e-mail which led me to her blog.  If you do nothing else, be sure that you check out her blog!  It is fantastic.  Her blog was one of the first I ever found.  I have saved many of her  recipes that she has posted on her blog, and it seems that every time I try one of her  recipes, I am not disappointed.

I requested this book from the library back in April or May, and I absolutely loved it.  I accidentally spilled coffee on it one night, but it didn't look too bad so I sent it  back to the library.  They decided that the small stain on the pages required the book  being completely replaced.  Wouldn't you know it??  I get books from the library all  the time that are in  much worse shape, but what can you do?

Here's the problem.  After I sent it back to the library, I ordered it on Amazon.  And now I had to pay for it at the library.  So I paid off the library, and I decided to give the new one from Amazon to a family member for Christmas.  It became evident that what I thought was a perfect gift was not so perfect after all.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do.

Thankfully, something came in the mail last week, and I knew what I could do--I could give that item to the family member for Christmas rather than this book.

So, dear reader, now you have the chance to win this book.
It is a wonderful book, and I can't say enough about it.  You can see some of my reviews here.  The book is still too new to me to have a favorite recipe, but know that when you plan recipes from this book, you will indeed say money.  I was amazed to learn that cream of mushroom soup and other cream soups was easier to make than I thought.

And that is what I appreciate about her book.  She doesn't ask you to spend 10 hours in the kitchen making difficult things from scratch.  No, she makes it very practical.  I can't say enough about how easy the recipes are and how good they are. Some recipes needed more seasoning, but some were very well-seasoned.  You know how that goes.  Everyone has a different preference when it comes to cooking. But regardless, this book is well  worth the expense.  And it is not an expensive book.  It is generally $15 or less.

So on to the giveaway.  If you would like to win this book, follow the rules listed below.  This giveaway will end Sunday, October 31st at 9:00  P.M. PST.  Make sure your e-mail address is in your profile or listed in your comments.  Leave a separate comment for each entry.  Best of wishes to everyone who enters.  Don't forget to fill out the  google  form if you would like five extra entries.

  6. I'd love to have this cookbook because I've read good reviews, including yours, about the recipes in it. I'm trying to be as thrifty as possible these days so this would come in very handy. Also, making our own soups, etc. would not only save money but also help with the food allergies and intolerances some family members suffer from.

  7. I visited Erin's site and learned about the Frugal Map, a cool app that lists bloggers in your area who match grocery store ads with coupons. That will come in handy!

  17. Although most of my favorite recipes seem to be desserts, I do have one or two that I enjoy making for dinner. That list includes these yummy cheddar biscuits that taste like the ones from a famous seafood chain restaurant:
