Day 13- A memory that never fails to make you laugh.
Oh where to start? As a mother, there is so much that could be said. And when you have a wacky friend from England like Martin--so let's put them both together.
There is a story when Martin, Martha, and I were doing what we did best in Texas--get lost. This was before we had a GPS, and we never did seem to know where we were going. I think we did find where we were going as we normally did.
Martha got so tired of our constant traveling (and getting lost). We would sing and tell stories to keep her entertained. I think she was around 2, and for some reason, Martin had this word he loved to use--"nyeh." When that word was said, it could mean absolutely anything. He loved substituting it for words which then caused the sentence or the paragraph to make no sense.
I don't remember how it came about, but we decided to tell the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. But Martin put a new twist on it. "Goldilocks and Three Nyehs." As he told the story, I was certainly laughing. He kept substituting nyeh whenever he wanted to. And it got crazy.
I remember poor Martha sitting in the backseat and finally crying out, "No more nyehs! No more nyehs!" We both burst into laughter. We have never forgotten it!!
